Tip: Read the Craigslist Handbook

Most people these days know of and have used ebay, either as a buyer or seller – but it still amazes me how many have never even heard of Craigslist.org and these are people who claim to be seasoned bargain hunters, pah! It’s like ebay, but without all the crippling feesm rules and being forced to do things a certain way.

My dad is pretty old school and still lists the items he wants to sell in the local paper. I’ve tried to tell him numerous times that he should check out Craigslist which is essentially the same thing – just on a much bigger scale as it spans the whole of cyberspace.

A useful resource for any one new to Craigslist is CLHandbook.com, as the name suggests it’s a Craigslist handbook offering a wealth of information on everything from the humble beginnings of the site and how to get started to the best tools to use and how to protect yourself from scams. The Craigslist Precautions section is a must-read for anyone planning to use the service.

Craigslist has evolved into much more than just a listing site where people try to offload their old tat and you can now find literally any thing there – including long lost relatives or a new girlfriend.

I will get my dad into the 21st century and onto Craigslist one day, it’s my mission!
